Level 3 is for upper elementary school students who are reading longer magazine articles or are starting to read chapter books. The subjects and vocabulary are more mature, suitable for this age range. The focus is on the harder words and phrases that we know many Taiwanese students may not be familiar with at this age. The pace is quicker, and these interesting stories and themes open up the conversation even more. We also welcome Jr. high students to join for some great conversation and fun practice.

Program Details
Q : What ages is this program for?
A : This program is open to all ages. The game is fun for everyone, and each student can learn something from it. Our questions and definitions are adjusted for different levels, and most of the difference comes in the level of conversation students are having. If you find the level too easy, you can move up to the next age group for more challenge.
Q : Which level should I choose for my child?
A : Here’s a simple guide to help you pick.

Level 2 – For lower elementary (Grades 1–3) who can answer in short sentences and have some conversation ability.

Level 3 – For upper elementary (Grades 4–6) who can speak more confidently, describe events, and join short discussions.

Level 4 – For junior high or senior high students ready for mature topics and deeper discussions in English.
If you’re unsure, start at the lower level. If your child finds it too easy, we can adjust them to the next level.
Q : How long is the course?
A : The Fall semester runs for 14 weeks, and the Spring semester runs for 15 weeks. Each online session is 50 minutes and in-person classes are 60 minutes.
Q : How many students per class? Is there a minimum number of students needed in each online class?
A : Each class has a maximum of 8 students. We reserve the right to cancel or combine classes if there are fewer than 4 students.
Q : What if we want fewer students in our class?
A : Private classes are available at a flat rate. Families or groups can decide how many students they want, up to a maximum of 8.
Scheduling
Q : Will my day and time be the same every week?
A : Yes, students will attend at the same day and time each week.
Q : What if I need to change my day and time for online classes?
A : Contact us and we will help you switch to another suitable day and time.
Q : I missed the beginning of the semester. Can I still do the classes that I missed?
A : Yes. If 4 students are interested, we can arrange makeup lessons to cover the missed content. This way, you receive the full semester’s lessons and the benefits of booking for the entire semester.
Q : What if I’m sick or need to miss a class?
A : You can give your spot to someone else, and inform us beforehand, or a class recording plus a playlist of the maps on GeoGuessr will be sent to you. If we have space in another public show that week, we can arrange for you to join that class.
Pricing & Enrollment
Q : How much does it cost?
A : Drop-in Rate Per Class: $600 NT per student.

Full Semester: Sign up for the full semester or the full year for a bigger discount.

Private Group Shows: Book your private classfor you and your friends for the semester or for the year. 1-8 students per show. View our main page for pricing.
Q : Can I get a refund if I decide not to continue after the course starts?
A : If you cancel before the official course begins, a NT$30 administrative fee will be charged, and the rest will be fully refunded.

No refunds will be given for any classes that have already been attended.

For mid-course refunds, the classes already taken will be calculated at NT$600 per session.

Refund formula : Refund amount = Total amount paid – (Number of classes attended × NT$600)

If more than 70% of the course has been completed (i.e., 12 or more classes), refund applications will no longer be accepted.
Live Classes
Q : Which cities are live classes available in?
A : Live classes are only available in Taipei for now.
Q : Where are the live classes held?
A : Our live classes are held in our new Dr. Sparks STEAM Center on the 15th floor of the Illume Taipei Hotel in the Songshan District.

Q : Does my child need to bring a computer?
A : Yes. Each student will need a laptop or tablet. A smartphone is also possible, but not ideal. Tablet rentals are available for $150 per class and must be reserved a week before class.
Q : What can I do while my child is in class?
A : There is nice lounge outside the classroom and a coffee shop in the center. Relax and enjoy while we have fun teaching your kids all about the world in English.
Q : Can I just drop my kids off and leave?
A : You are welcome to come early and use our lounge before class. Students need to be accompanied by an adult as our teachers will be in class and we cannot leave kids unattended while we are teaching.
Q : Can we book a private show or 1 on 1 class?
A : Yes. Contact us to find available times for your live private group classes. You can choose your class size, up to a maximum of 8 students.
Teacher
Q : Who teaches the class?
A : Classes are led by experienced foreign teachers. A local Mission Control is present in each class for technical support and communication.
Q : Dr. Sparks is my child’s idol, and he really wants to join Dr. Sparks’ class. Is it possible to know which classes are taught by him?
A : Dr. Sparks is so grateful for the love and support from all the kids! He truly wishes there were 48 hours in a day so he could both design and prepare new courses and personally teach every class.
Q : Can we choose the teacher?
A : At this time, we do not offer the option to choose specific teachers. You only need to select a time slot that works best for you. The Sparkle and Shine teaching team is made up of experienced and high-quality educators—so rest assured, your child will be in good hands.
