Darwin Club is designed for kids who are learning English as a foreign language. This activity was made for elementary school students but is suitable for kindergarten students who are comfortable in a whole-English environment and are curious about science. Our activities encourage kids to use English instead of just memorizing English. We create fun, hands-on, English science club activities to keep kids thinking and learning. What they don’t understand with their ears, they will understand with their eyes and hands through interesting experiments and multimedia animations.

達爾文俱樂部 30 – 液壓

​

挖土機如何舉起1噸重的石頭 🪨？為什麼只要輕輕地踩一個踏板，車子就可以停了？飛行員如何動個手就能讓巨大的飛機轉彎🛩️？在小小科學家俱樂部達爾文30-液壓中，我們要一起探索這些神奇的事情是如何透過液壓達成的！

​

我們會一同探索氣體與液體在密閉空間的不同反應，並了解我們如何使用這個能量創造液壓與氣壓工具。小小科學家們會製作他們自己的液壓挖土機，帶回家後可以繼續做更多的實驗。他們也會將如何自行發明液壓機器的基本知識一起打包帶回家！

Darwin Club 30 – Hydraulics

​

How can an excavator lift a 1-ton rock? How can you make a car stop just by pressing lightly on the pedal? How does a pilot turn a massive plane with the slight movement of his hand? We will explore how all these incredible things happen through the power of hydraulics in Dr. Sparks Junior Scientist Club, Darwin Club 30 – Hydraulics.

​

We will explore the difference of how gas and liquid react in a closed environment and how we can use that power to create hydraulic and pneumatic tools. Each of the junior scientists will create their own hydraulic excavator which they can take home and do more experiments with. They will also go home with the know-how to invent their own hydraulic machines.

​

👧👦Darwin Club 25 and up introduces more challenging themes for elementary school students, all designed for Taiwanese learners of English. Our activities are designed so that what your child doesn’t understand with their ears, they can understand with their hands and eyes, using our multimedia presentations and experiments. Our teachers lead young scientists through demonstrations, illustrations, and hands-on experiments, making learning a thrilling adventure! Dr. Sparks Jr. Scientist Club – English, Science, Fun!

In this engaging program, your kids will embark on another sensory journey to explore the fascinating sense of taste and the world of flavors. Join us at Dr. Sparks Jr. Scientist Club as we discover the life cycle of plants in our new activity, Newton Club 15 – Plants. Your kids will learn to classify plants as trees, flowers, grass, vines and others. We will explore the different parts of a plant and their functions. Our Plant Song will guide students through the life cycle of a plant, from seed to flower and back to seed again. Finally, everyone will start the life cycle by germinating and planting their own seeds that they can take home to witness a plant’s incredible growth.

Our Bug Club Chant will guide children into 5 different bugs’ microcosms where we will use all of our senses to experience A Bug’s World.

Our sensory stations will get your kids to move like a worm, see like a bee, march like an ant, spin a web like a spider, and fly like a butterfly. Bugs will become larger than life as we build them to fill our take-home dioramas. Newton Club 13 – Germs
牛頓俱樂部 13 – 細菌🦠

🌍2020年是個多變的一年。 我們在2020年學到2件事：那就是我們需要保持清潔🧼和小心謹慎 。現在似乎是教導我們的孩子所有細菌🦠相關知識的絕佳時機。我們將討論細菌是什麼🤔，它們如何使我們生病🤒，它們喜歡藏在哪裡呢?它們如何傳播以及如何使它們遠離🚫。我們希望將 COVID-19 (武漢肺炎病毒) 變成一個學習的機會，進而讓我們和孩子們都健康一輩子。

​

當細菌和病毒在人體外部時，其實並沒有那麼強大。我們將使用夜光粉末，來看到細菌如何透過簡單的觸摸就散佈到周圍👏。我們將了解到，許多細菌都受到一層脂肪的保護，也會了解為什麼使用肥皂🧼如此重要 。我們將看到肥皂如何被水💧和脂肪🧴吸引，以及肥皂如何同時抓住水和脂肪，以便我們將它們洗掉。我們會找到細菌喜歡藏在手的哪個部位，搭配 Brian Funshine的原創歌曲 🎶 來學習如何正確洗手。📖故事時間我們使用了一本 幽默的繪本，來幫助我們了解細菌是如何被我們傳播的 🦠➡️🤲。最後，我們將在不同表面上採集細菌樣本，並觀察這些細菌在未來幾天內的生長情況。

If 2020 has taught us anything it’s that we need to be clean and be careful. It seems like the perfect time to teach our kids all about germs. We will talk about what germs are, how they make us sick, where they like to hide, how they get passed around, and how we can keep them away. We want to change COVID 19 into a learning opportunity that will keep us and our kids healthy for our whole lives.


Germs and viruses are not actually that strong outside of the human body. Using glow in the dark powder we will see how germs get spread around just by a simple touch. We will learn that many of these germs are protected by a layer of fat and why using soap is so important. We will see how soap is attracted to both water and fat and how it grabs ahold of both of them so we can wash them away. We will find where germs like to hide on our hands and learn how to wash our hands properly with a Sparkle and Shine original song by Brian Funshine. Our story for this activity is a silly book that helps us understand how we pass germs to others. Finally, we will take samples of the germs on different surfaces and watch those germs grow over the days to come.

 

Designed for kindergarten students, Newton Club is a parent/child interactive science club where you can explore science together with your kids, in English. Children from 2 years old up to grade 2 will enjoy these activities as well. Learning Objectives 

  • Learn how germs pass between different things we touch.

  • See how fat protects germs when they are outside of the body.

  • Find out how soap is attracted to both fat and water.

  • Explore where germs like to hide on our hands.

  • Learn how to wash our hands the proper way.

Has your child ever asked you for a pet? Of course they have! Almost every child wants a pet. In Newton Club 12 – The Science of Pets, we will explore the science behind taking care of a pet. We want to help parents and kids really think about the decision to get a pet. What are some common pets in Taiwan and around the world? What kind of habitat does your pet need? Is your pet OK living alone or do they need pet friends? How much exercise does your pet need? How much work are you going to have to do being a pet owner?

Following our STEAM focus, we will look at the math behind pets. How many years will your pet live for? How old are you now? How long will you have your pet for? We include story time and singing and dancing featuring the amazing music of Brian Funshine in a Dr. Sparks original song.

Can you make a shadow on a wall? You can if you understand how light and shadows work. In Newton Club 11 – Light and Shadows, we will explore how light works. How does light travel? Can it only move in a straight line, or can it move around corners? What do you need to do to make a shadow? Can you bounce light off of different surfaces?

We will explore how light travels in a straight line. By using mirrors, we will reflect light back and forth to make it go where we want it to. Dr. Sparks loves creativity mixed into his science. We will learn how to make shadow puppets when we introduce the newest song, Shadow Play, by Brian Funshine. Finally, we will learn how to bend light by sending it through tubes and water.

Fall is almost here and it’s time to get ready for the rain.  Do you ever wonder where the rain comes from? Do you ever lay on your back and stare at the clouds and wonder how they form? In Newton Club 9 – Rain and Clouds we will explore the water cycle and see how water travels from the oceans, up into the clouds, down to the ground as rain, and then back out to the ocean in the rivers. 牛頓俱樂部 8 – 鳥🦜

🦜小孩子們在探索科學時，「動物」是一個非常有趣的部分。「動物學🧬」是生物學中研究動物王國的其中一環。您的寶貝在 「牛頓俱樂部8 - 鳥」中，會當個小小動物學家，與我們一起探索 「鳥類 🦆🐦🦢🦉🐧🦅🦚」。

 

🌍世界各地都有鳥類 。我們會一起認識多種鳥類，還會探索為什麼它們如此的「鳥」！ 除了一起看看鳥特別的身體部位－ 腳、翅膀 、羽毛、蛋🥚、鳥喙，我們也會探索鳥類吃的不同食物🍽️ 以及鳥喙如何幫助它們做到這一點 。我們還會一起觀察鳥蛋，以及看看鳥巢是如何做成的。觀察鳥的腳，找出為什麼它們有那麼多種不同種類的腳。最後還會一起來看看鳥的羽毛有多酷 。

One part of science that is so fun to explore as a kid is animals. Zoology is a branch of biology that studies the animal kingdom. Your kids will become Junior Zoologist in Newton Club 8, when we learn all about birds. You can find birds in every part of the world. We will learn about many birds and explore what makes they so….birdy!

We will look at those special parts, such as their feet, wings, feathers, eggs, beaks and bills. Explore the different things birds eat and how their beaks help them do just that. Check out how birds’ nests are made and the eggs they put inside them. Look at birds’ feet and find out why they have so many different kinds of feet. Find out just how cool feathers are.

在牛頓俱樂部7—嗅覺👃中，我們將跟大家一起探索Dr. Sparks小小科學家俱樂部感官系列的第二個主題—嗅覺！Dr.Sparks將跟孩子與家長一起用鼻子辨認味道，並用言語描述出來，還會探索味道是如何進到我們鼻子的。
 

牛頓俱樂部是為幼稚園孩子設計的；活動中我們會透過唱歌🎤、跳舞💃🕺、動手實驗🧪來認識更多的嗅覺。我們會嗅一嗅哪些爆米花是椰子口味的🥥🍿，哪些是奶油口味的 🧈🍿？可不要馬上就用味覺👅來協助嗅覺了喔！也安排了味道配對遊戲🎭，並把鼻子聞到的神祕味道描述出來📝。家長也會跟孩子一起決定哪個味道最濃，哪個最淡。

如同以往，我們會採用兒童音樂家Brian Funshine🎼創作的生動活潑的音樂🎶來幫助我們學習嗅覺。活動的最後一個實驗是製作孩子可以帶回家的「香水發泡彩繪卡🎨」。

Come and explore the senses with Newton Club 7 – Smell, the second in our 5 Senses Series at Dr. Sparks Junior Scientist Club. Dr. Sparks helps parents and children explore the sense of smell together in this premium English science club activity. We will use our noses to identify and describe different smells, and find out how those smells get to our noses.

Designed for kindergarten students, we will use singing, dancing, and experiments to find out more about our sense of smell. Use your sense of smell to figure out which popcorn is coconut flavored and which is butter flavor. Of course, if that fails we can always use our sense of taste. Play a game of smell matching by smelling and describing mysterious smells. Work together with your child to determine which smell is the strongest and which is the weakest.

As always, we will feature an awesome original song by Brian Funshine to have some fun learning about smells. The final experiment for the kids is to make some scratch and sniff puffy paint cards to take home. Join Dr. Sparks Junior Scientist Club for this parent/child interactive English science club event. 🦷寶貝們的牙齒在幼稚園階段會開始產生變化，因而需要額外的注意。口腔內到底有什麼樣的變化？🤔 為什麼要好好刷牙與剔牙？牙齒又怎麼會掉？Dr. Sparks在「牛頓俱樂部6—牙齒🦷」的主題裡，很興奮地要帶大家一起來探索口腔內的世界👄。

Kindergarten is a time when our kids’ teeth start to require some extra attention. What is going on inside our mouths, why all this concern with brushing and flossing, and what do you mean my teeth are going to fall out? Dr. Sparks is excited to explore what is happening in our mouths in Newton Club 6 – Teeth.

Designed for kindergarten students, we will use singing, dancing, stories, and experiments to find out more about our teeth. We will explore what plaque and cavities are, and how they can destroy our teeth. An exciting story starring the Enamel Ninjas will show the kids how to defend our teeth against plaque attacks and cavities. We will learn about how plaque hides in our teeth, and the proper way to use our toothbrushes and floss to get that plaque out! We will feature another original song by Brian Funshine to remind us all how to brush our teeth.

Finally, we will explore what happens when our teeth start to get loose and fall out! How many teeth do we have, how many more will we get, and where in the world do these new teeth come from? The theme for our 5th Newton Club is Sound. In this activity, parents and children will explore how different sounds are made and we’ll find out that sounds are vibrations. A series of experiments with tuning forks will help your children hear, see, and feel the vibrations of sound. Giant rubber bands will help us to learn that by changing the vibration we can change the sounds that we make.

「顏色」無所不在！ 歡迎一起帶寶貝們來「牛頓4 - 顏色」玩色彩！🎨在這個為幼兒園小朋友設計的👩‍👧‍👦親子互動式英語科學俱樂部中，我們要一起來探索色彩的科學。我們有一系列新奇的實驗 ，要讓家長與寶貝們體驗用不一樣的方式探索科學，同時還可以學到如何在家使用英文互動 。

Colors are all around us. Come join Dr. Sparks in Newton Club 4 – Colors. We will explore the science of colors in this parent-child interactive, English, science club designed for kindergarten kids. We have a great series of experiments for parents and children to do together to find new ways to explore science and use English together at home.

 

In Newton 4 – Colors, we will start with the primary colors and then explore mixing those colors to make secondary colors. We have an exciting series of experiments to show parents and kids different ways to understand how colors mix together in Dr. Sparks’ special style. With another great original Sparkle and Shine song created by Brian Funshine, we’ll dance and sing about colors around the class.

You have probably heard of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math). Here at Dr. Sparks Jr. Scientist Club, we use the STEAM model. That extra “A” stands for “Art”. Art and Science belong together. We will use food coloring and shaving cream as we see how our primary colors mix together to make beautiful art.

We love helping parents learn how to use English at home with their kids. Talking about colors is an easy way for parents to use English at home, even if they are not very confident speaking English. Newton Club 3 will show you that science is everywhere, even inside bubbles. We will learn about bubbles shapes, how to make Dr. Sparks Super Bubble Juice, compare the size of bubbles and explore what happens when bubbles meet.

牛頓俱樂部 2 - 恐龍的足跡🦖 

世界上比「恐龍」更能捕捉孩子們的好奇心的事情不多！在「牛頓俱樂部2」裡，Dr. Sparks要邀請大家跟孩子一起用英文來探索恐龍世界。大小寶貝們準備好一起大聲學恐龍吼叫了嗎？🦖

我們會一起學8個恐龍的名稱🦕，同時也會發現長的英文字並不可怕 。我們要一起描述不同恐龍的特性🔍，並且看看是否可以從恐龍在幾百萬年前留下來的足跡🦶中 辨識出它們的「身份」。我們還會一起用沙子模仿製作恐龍化石，然後在教室裡共同創造巨大的恐龍足跡。我們將會用全新的視野來看恐龍 👀！

專為幼兒園兒童設計的牛頓俱樂部是👨‍👩‍👧‍👦親子互動的科學俱樂部。小學低年級生或是年紀小小的幼兒也歡迎一起加入我們！透過輕鬆的科學主題、有趣的活動與實驗，伴隨著Brian Funshine創作的曲子🎼 – Ed the Dino，您的孩子會愛上這麼歡樂的英語環境。 Dr. Sparks 小小科學家俱樂部要把科學的樂趣散播給大家！✨

Newton Club 1 - Float and Sink
牛頓俱樂部 1 - 浮與沉🌊

如果你有一隻木頭湯匙和一隻金屬湯匙🥄，把它們同時放到水裡，為什麼木頭湯匙會浮起來，而金屬湯匙會沉下去呢？🤔為什麼金屬湯匙會沉入水底，而金屬製的船卻會浮起來呢？在牛頓俱樂部1 - 浮與沉中，我們要一起探索為什麼有些東西會浮在水面上，而有些東西會沉到水底 🌊。這個👨‍👩‍👧‍👦親子互動的科學俱樂部活動是為幼兒園的孩子設計的；再年幼一點的幼兒或是小學低年級的學生在此活動也會得到樂趣。

我們會在水中實驗，看看哪些東西會浮，哪些東西會沉。我們會先仔細地觀察東西的材質 🔍，然後預測它們會浮還是沉。在繪本故事時間📖裡，基德船長Captain Kidd與他的海盜船員們🏴‍☠️會邀請你上他們的海盜船🚢。沒有人比一個海盜船長更了解東西是如何漂浮的🌊！在 Brian Funshine原創的兒童音樂🎵陪伴下，孩子會一起唱歌跳舞💃🕺。最後，我們會一起實驗如何讓東西飄浮在空中🎈。

If you have a wooden spoon and a metal spoon, why does the wooden spoon float while the metal spoon sinks? Why does a metal spoon sink, but a metal boat can float? In Newton Club 1 – Float and Sink, we will explore why some things float and some things sink. This parent/child interactive science club event is designed for kindergarten students, but toddlers and lower elementary school students will also enjoy the fun.

 

We will experiment in the water to see which things float and which things sink. By looking closely at what things are made of, we will start to make predictions as to whether things will float or sink. Enjoy story time as Captain Kidd and his band of pirates invite you aboard the pirate ship. Who knows better than a pirate captain how things float? Original music by Brian Funshine will get the kids singing and dancing. Finally, we will experiment with how to get things to float in the air.

 

This 70 minute activity is packed full of activities and will help mommies get some ideas of how to use simple English at home with their kids. Come and join the fun and help your children see just how much fun science can be, with Dr. Sparks Junior Scientist Club.
